Teachers and around 50 students have been held inside the UCL Bartlett School of Architecture following a bomb scare in the Euston area of London
At 3.30pm last Friday afternoon (27 May) students reported being detained inside their Gordon Street building by the school’s security.
The temporary lock-down was caused by a suspect vehicle which had been parked outside the nearby University College London (UCL) Hospital at 1pm and caused police to cordon off the area.
Shortly after the lock-down a police spokesperson confirmed the vehicle had been cleared and students were allowed to exit the building.
Prior to being released, one student said: ‘It’s all very worrying and overwhelming. There are a lot of unknowns right now.
‘I’m going to be here for at least another 20 hours anyway, but I could do with a coffee right now.’
Bartlett students are currently preparing for the school’s summer show which opens on 1 July.
