Hopefully the Croydon architect's dept. will be the start of more interesting buildings that have a wealth to give beyond the narrow confines of commercial architecture, making a built environment we actively look forward to seeing in future decades. Perhaps, in reference to your comment of Percy Johnson-Marshall, architects should play more of a role in policy formation and actually enact some of the Farrell review? Who would be a good Chief Architect in Westminster?

It doesn't say much for the competition if the most interesting architects working in this particular field at the moment (Mae, Alison Brookes, Patel Taylor et al) haven't entered.
