Bennetts named AJ100 New Member of the Year

Shaftesbury Theatre by Bennetts Associates

Bennetts Associates has been crowned the AJ100 New Member of the Year

This is awarded to the practice that entered the AJ100 for the first time in at least five years and is judged on business success and quality of work. Bennetts Associates came storming into the table at the halfway point, in 50th position, with 50 qualified architects in the UK.

The practice, founded by husband and wife team Rab and Denise Bennetts, has a more-than-solid reputation, having been shortlisted for the Stirling Prize three times, most recently for its remodelling of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon, in 2011.

The practice has also won the Prime Minister’s Better Building Prize twice, for Jubilee Library in Brighton and for 5 Pancras Square in London’s King’s Cross. It has strong sustainability credentials, and was a founder member of the UK Green Building Council.

Bennetts Associates has recently completed its third and largest project for the Royal College of Pathologists, giving the organisation a new headquarters and helping it relocate from London’s West End to the fringe of the City.
