The Lower High Street revitalisation in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales, is one of the projects recently completed by this fast-growing practice, which has its Welsh office in Cardiff. Another key project was the £27 million Gartholwg education centre.

A new entrant to the AJ100, Edinburghbased practice Reiach and Hall ensures staff satisfaction by picking up awards for projects ranging from New Stobhill Hospital in Glasgow to the Weaver’s Cottage in Selkirk.

Part of the giant Capita Group, Capita Architecture has two of its nine UK offices in the South West, in Bristol and Plymouth. Projects include the Centre for Nanoscience and Quantum Information building at the University of Bristol and the Mayflower Community School in Plymouth.

Celebrating its 150th anniversary, Taylor Young has offices in Liverpool, Leeds and Cheshire. The practice’s Loreto College in Manchester won the BREEAM Further Education award at this year’s Ecobuild.

In contrast to its purpose-designed offices in London and Manchester, the Birmingham branch of the UK’s largest practice is in a building with a classical stone facade, in the Colmore Row conservation area. Recent highly regarded projects include Joseph Chamberlain College in Birmingham.
