Allford Hall Monaghan Morris (AHMM) has submitted plans for the latest phase of the New Bailey office development in Salford
The scheme at Two New Bailey Square, which follows the recent completion of RHWL’s One New Bailey in May (pictured bottom), will be the AJ100 practice’s first scheme in Greater Manchester.
Proposals include 17,600m² of office space, 50 underground car parking bays, a café, shower facilities and 102 bicycle spaces.
The floors will also have a flexible design so the space can be divided if needed. Each floor will have a private outdoor terrace.
The project is being backed by English Cities Fund (ECf) – a joint venture between Muse Developments, Legal and General and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).
Speaking to the AJ, AHMM co-founder Simon Allford said: ’This will be our first job in Greater Manchester, although we are hoping a bid for a major masterplan in the area will also come off.
’We are keen to take ideas that we have been developing in London [such as the White Collar Factory] to other UK cities.’
Phil Mayall, development director at ECf, added: ’Two New Bailey Square’s design perfectly balances the characteristics of a high-quality, sustainable office building, with an honesty and integrity that will a provide truly unique development.’
Salford City Council is expected to make a decision on the scheme in September. If approved, construction is due to start in early 2017.
