RIBA event space rented out or they can put up membership fees and not rent out the space
Lowering the M25, moving road and diverting rivers. Safe to say this project will never happen, much better to press on with the Thames Estuary runway and make an amazing airport that is highly connected by public transport links and most importantly future proof.
Gordon Gibb far right architects? Give me a break there are people expressing there opinions on a subject matter.
While I am all for free speech if you represent a government as Scrutton did then you have to conform to there basic views, he did not so was rightly removed from his post. He is free to hold his views but they do disqualify him from holding a government position.
True to form someone will always be offended
Looks fantastic and Stratford is a much better area to get to via public transport than the O2, as you have the Central Line, DLR, TFL rail and Jubilee Line running directly into the station there already.
The huge amounts of evidence that the police are having to shift through and indeed contractual routes mean its hardly a simple case to solve for the police. While clearly there were huge faults with the construction and installation of the refurbishment its no good trying to charge the wrong people just to do it quickly. Better to take there time and get it right the first time rather than putting the survivors and victims families through years and years of turmoil without proper answers.
Will the AJ be speculating on the salaries of all principles of large practices or just those who have slightly different views?
The large housebuilders who control the residential market are not interested in highly architectural homes they want standardisation of buildings, so they don't have think too much when it comes to constructing them and can build them quickly and sell them on. It is only commercial developments and smaller house builders who are more interested in architectural design as a way of offering something different to the market.
I suggest the minister looks at the real issues surrounding the housing market such as lack of skilled workers due to decades of underinvestment in apprenticeships and a planning system designed to create hold ups rather than concerning himself about architectural merits of a building.
Is anything he said actually untrue? The glass fronted shop will indeed not last as long as the courthouse but both buildings were undoubtedly designed for different purposes and different shelf lives and there perhaps is the ministers error.
