[FIRST LOOK] Gregory Phillips Architects has released these photographs of its RIBA Regional Award-winning Bishops Close house on the banks of the River Thames in Berkshire
Replacing a much smaller dwelling, the house is accessed via a pair of Grade I-listed, metal gates. The drive leads to an enclosed flint-walled central-courtyard which is surrounded by the two wings of the house and its out-buildings.
The home is entered from the courtyard by crossing an enclosed reflecting pool which leads into a double height entrance space. This hall sits between two blocks of glazed single-aspect rooms that have far-reaching north-western views of the countryside.
The gardens next to the house feature an infinity-edged swimming pool and a tennis court. The landscaping follows a ‘simple, semi-formal layout’ which leads on to the extensive grounds and open-countryside beyond.
