In pictures: Architecture Open showcases London firms

Work of London practices including Stanton Williams, Ben Adams, vPPR and Hawkins\Brown has gone on display as part of RIBA London’s Architecture Open exhibition

From hundreds of entries, 35 submissions were selected for the summer show, which is taking place at Carl Turner Architects’ recently completed POP Brixton.

Held in one of the pop-up site’s shipping containers, the exhibition showcases the work of a wide range of architects from sole practitioners to Stirling Prize-winners.

For the exhibition, which was designed by Henry Milner, architects were confined to a small cardboard container measuring 33cm x 26cm.

RIBA London interim director Owen Wainhouse, said: ‘Architects are experts at thinking about space in intelligent, intricate and intriguing ways. For this year’s Architecture Open we asked our members to each design a model to fit in a space not much bigger than a shoebox.’

He added: ‘The 35 curated entries demonstrate the range of thoughts, ideas and work created by RIBA members in London. London has perhaps the highest concentration of design talent found anywhere in the world and it’s hugely exciting to be showcasing that in such a compact and accessible exhibition.’
