Fast-track design

The Millennium Dome's masts, it turns out, were relocated during the design process - so that you can get an eight-lane running track inside it. Could this give a clue to its possible future use? Maybe, but as with the new Wembley stadium, or even the fanciful Twickenham, a successful Olympic bid would still require a warm-up track to be built next to the main stadium. l repeat this because the penny has still not dropped in the surreal discussions one continues to hear concerning Wembley, including rubbish about the design being a 'compromise'. In reality it will be excellent for football and excellent for athletics (if required) but, until some land options are purchased, a non-starter for the Olympics.
