The Huts by Architecture for Humanity
Architecture for Humanity has created four ‘hut’ installations for Clerkenwell Design Week
Each hut is made entirely from recycled materials and is located outdoors in different parts of Clerkenwell.
The Green Hut in St James’ Church Gardens, which is covered in edible plants, explores the idea of a ‘take-away’ garden in city contexts.
The Water Hut on Clerkenwell Green (and above the site of the old well) uses discarded copper pipework and water containers to explore how waste water is used.
The Textile Hut off Aylesbury Street is made from fabric reclaimed from Richard Branson’s hot air balloon.
The Remakery Hut on St John’s Lane links directly to the Brixton Remakery, a project by Architecture for Humanity due to open in Autumn which will provide upcycling facilities for local craftsmen to create new products which can then be sold on. The hut is made from upcycled timber framework.
