The AR turns Japanese

Website domain names can be tricky things.

Fair play to the RIBA, which early on scooped website of the AJ’s sister magazine The Architectural Review has just been relaunched as, superseding the trusty address The new site brims with top stuff, including an archive of articles from the AR’s 114-year history. Log on now to see the original critiques of Le Corbusier’s La Tourette, Norman Foster’s Willis Faber building and Frank Gehry’s Guggenheim Museum Bilbao (to name but three). But arplus as a domain name is not entirely redundant. A click on brings up a fashion and beauty site for the discerning Japanese lady; a rather wonderful, frothy parallel universe. It’s surprising what a difference a suffix can make.
