Star turns

Architecture of course produces its own stardust, with such luminaries as Zaha and, of course, winner Richard Rogers at the Stirling dinner. But stars from beyond these horizons were in shorter supply. Those present included designer and former Stirling presenter Wayne Hemingway and Ekow Eshun, director of the ICA, who joined Kevin McCloud for a very brief and, to the audience, largely inaudible, televised sofa discussion after the announcement of Rogers’ win had been made. Also there were sixties fashion genius Mary Quant and, most loudly, TV presenter and gossip-column regular Ulrika Johnsson. She jumped up and down and whooped at the start of the evening, when McCloud announced that the public vote had gone to Evelina where Johnsson’s child had been treated.
