Skype Corporate Headquarters, Luxembourg by WAM
[Drawings + project data] This project forms part of the regeneration works to an existing brewery in Luxembourg City’s old quarter
Skype wanted the interior to inspire innovation but retain corporate sophistication, with high performance AV meeting facilities, dynamic, flexible office space, good communications between teams, a fluid layout to support the roving nature of many Skype employees, and good conference spaces.
The ceiling is a topographical device to encourage movement through the space. Its wave-like form refers to the river that served the brewery. It integrates lighting and building services and provides an uplifting ambience - people entering immediately know they are in a space that challenges office convention with innovative thinking.
High performance acoustic meeting pods are clad in timber- a reference to brewing barrels, also adding a softer, sustainable material to the palette. The pods are like lily pads in the river, providing a segueing district between office teams, encouraging flow of movement between them.
