Safeguard Water-repellent cream

[PRODUCTS] Water-repellent cream for thermal efficiency

Safeguard’s new water-repellent cream, Stormdry, can improve the thermal properties of masonry walls by keeping them dry throughout the year, with a potential energy saving of 29 per cent when it is applied to single-skin brick or stone walls.

Stormdry is applied as a cream with a brush or roller, so it is easy to tell which areas have been treated. It penetrates deeply into the masonry and cures to form an invisible water-repellent, vapour-permeable barrier, allowing walls to breathe and maximising thermal performance by preventing them from absorbing rainwater.

Stormdry is suitable for older homes, whose carbon footprint cannot be reduced by using traditional insulation. Unlike external and internal insulation, it does not alter the appearance of buildings or reduce living space. Although Stormdry does not achieve the same level of CO² savings as insulation, its installation cost is much lower.

Stormdry is made up of a carefully selected blend of silanes and siloxanes. It repels water by lining the pores of the masonry rather than blocking them. These components form a strong and stable bond with commonly used masonry materials, so the life expectancy of Stormdry is between 20 and 30 years.
