Products: The Forum: University of Exeter, Streatham Campus

A selection of the products specified for Wilkinson Eyre Architects’ The Forum at the University of Exeter’s Streatham Campus

Architect’s choices

The choice of materials specified throughout the Forum project respond directly to the surrounding landscape, which enjoys an array of differing colours throughout the year due to an abundance of mature trees, which form part of a botanical garden.

The primary external building materials were selected to optimise self-weathering properties and respond to the woodland, making extensive use of European oak used to create a free-form roof structure as an interpretation of a wooded canopy, while the copper roofing will oxidise and green in time,
enabling the building to evolve in harmony with its surroundings.
