By main contractor Alois Schuster Bauunternehmen
The exposed concrete was cast with rough timber plank formwork, making reference to the house’s sylvan setting.
Pietra serena natural sandstone
Stonemason: Josef Mangold
Pietra serena is a natural stone with similar properties to concrete. We specified exceptionally large units, 1200 x 1200mm, internally and also externally for one of the roof decks and for the terrace next to the concrete pool.
Smoked oak timber flooring
Flooring is finished in dark smoked oak, chosen to contrast with the grey materials, such as stone and concrete.
Smoked oak kitchen furniture
Joiner: Schreinerei Rauh
We envisioned the kitchen as a central item of furniture, emerging from the upper floor and replicating its dark smoked oak finish.
Windows and facade, Eloxcal C35
In conjunction with window frames, we specified large, dark brown panels, juxtaposing exposed concrete with dark brown cladding externally and, similarly, pietra serena natural stone with dark smoked oak internally.
Riven black basalt stone
BUK Garten-und Landschaftsbau
Appropriately for our vision of a pure and modern house, the horticulturist’s brief was for a low-maintenance but expressive garden. Riven black basalt split was an essential part of the concept.
Red laminated glass to guest bathroom
We chose red laminated glass as a highlight in a building, which is dominaed by subdued colours.
Black lino was chosen as the finish to desk and table tops for its tactile qualities.
Plain untreated steel
Crude steel was specified as the finish to stair treads and furniture items, including desks.
Alois Schuster Bauunternehmen
Polished concrete was used, for example, at the bottom of the chimney.
Zodiaq charcoal black artificial stone
Used as a worktop in the kitchen and for the washstands.
Doors and windows
The expansive glass side walls are an essential part of the design concept, providing a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape.
