SAS International Project Management Team wins Gold for Westfield Stratford City

SAS International is proud to announce that its project management division has won a Gold Judges Award at this year’s AIS Contractors Awards for their work at Westfield Stratford City.

Andrew Jackson Director at SAS International commented: “Congratulations to the project management team who, with Westfield’s in-house design team, worked to a strict six month timeline to design, supply and install long term sustainable metal solutions throughout the development including; bulkheads, spandrel panels, bespoke exterior cladding and column casings.”

Westfield Stratford City, the new 1.9million square foot retail and leisure destination is the gateway to the 2012 London Olympic Games. This new retail landmark has been designed from the outset with the future in mind.  Material choice was of paramount importance to provide an environment that will serve the community and visitors day in, day out, remaining functional and visually appealing well after the excitement of the London Olympics. Metal was specified over other materials because of its durability.

The SAS project management team worked on the meticulous installation of these solutions to ensure they were fitted to the highest standards.

Richard White, Design Director at SAS International received the award on behalf of the company at the AIS President’s Lunch held at the Dorchester Hotel, London on 12th June.

The AIS Contractors Awards is an annual event that promotes and encourages high levels of craftsmanship in the interior fit-out industry. In addition many projects that won awards featured SAS International metal ceilings as part of the interior fit-out.

The AIS (Association of Interior Specialists) represents companies involved in all aspects of interior fit-out. Members carry out over 65% of the work involved in the UK commercial fit-out, refurbishment and retrofit sector.
