Marley Eternit: Why Dry Fix?
Data released by the NHBC has revealed that in 2011/2012, mortar related issues continue to be linked to more than half of all valid pitched roof claims.
So whilst recent guidance from the NHBC around the mandatory mechanical fixing of mortar bedded ridges and hips has resulted in a distinct increase in the specification of dry fix solutions, Marley Eternit would like to see regulations go even further and is therefore urging all contractors to embrace the benefits that dry fix solutions offer.
Indeed, as we approach what is set to be another challenging winter, the market leading roofing manufacturer has launched a unique microsite, www.whydryfix.co.uk, which is specifically designed to communicate the benefits of dry fix and details the extensive range of Universal dry fix and ventilation roofing accessories available.
Gavin White, campaign manager at Marley Eternit, explains: “We understand that the roof of today has to meet a range of challenging and often conflicting requirements; it needs to be weather-proof and aesthetically pleasing, provide adequate ventilation whilst being quick and easy to install, with minimal requirement for maintenance and maximum durability.
“It is the diversity of such demands upon the roof as a platform, combined with the increasingly volatile weather conditions that expose the vulnerability of mortar and in our eyes are driving the clear case in favour of dry fix systems.”
As the first company to launch an interlocking Dry Verge System, back in 1984, Marley Eternit has been at the heart of evolution within this sector over the last three decades. The new site is the latest innovation from the manufacturer and offers a wealth of useful information, including an engaging video, for contractors about Universal dry fix systems, with specific information around each individual product clearly displayed.
Gavin concludes: “At Marley Eternit we are committed to understanding the demands placed on our customers and providing them with solutions that are of real benefit. We believe that dry fix is a necessity, not an option and if contractors need any further evidence, they needn’t look any further than our new site.”
Marley Eternit Universal systems can be used across all key roof areas including eaves, verge, valley and ridge. They can be used in conjunction with all Marley Eternit’s ranges as well as other manufacturers’ products and in addition to being completely dry fixed can also provide ventilation solutions that help meet the UK Building Regulations, British Standards and NHBC guidelines.
