Junckers Takes Flight

Junckers solid hardwood floors have been widely used in airports all over the world, including Heathrow, Copenhagen, Manchester and Bergen.

The latest example is the installation of 3000m² of Junckers Oak Variation floors in the departure gate areas of Birmingham airport, specified by Pascall+Watson architects and installed by PICA Floorings Ltd. The use of real solid hardwood brings natural warmth and beauty to what is often a fairly artificial environment.

For high-traffic areas such as airports where foot fall and daily wear is intense, maintenance is a key issue. Junckers specially developed Hardwax Oil dries much quicker than normal oil and can be re-coated the same day as it takes just four hours to dry. The finish offers an extremely durable, stain and water resistant finish. It is also fully repairable meaning individual areas can be treated rather than re-finishing the entire floor.
