Ecophon: Top class acoustics at St Michael’s

Saint-Gobain Ecophon worked closely with architects Peter Smith Associates and Neo Interiors to provide an innovative and striking acoustic ceiling solution that has helped to create a unique environment for pupils. Key to the overall design of the school was being able to balance an acoustic environment in which pupils can thrive but one that is also modern and creates real visual impact. A number of Ecophon’s products worked together to achieve this.

Taking three weeks to complete, Ecophon’s Wall Panels™ in three complimentary colours (menthol, mustard and tangerine) were installed by Neo Interiors in the main hall and subsequently used in all the classrooms. This helped create a theme throughout that ties everything together yet gives each classroom its own personality. 

Rectangular and Circular Solo™ acoustic rafts were also installed to further strengthen the acoustic offering as well as the overall design. Finally, Gedina™ acoustic ceiling tiles were used in office areas and Hygiene™ tiles in the canteen.
