Ecophon has sound effect on showroom

Ecophon, part of leading international materials company Saint-Gobain, has transformed a car showroom after installing an acoustic ceiling.

Coalville Car Auctions now features an Ecophon Focus Wing acoustic ceiling in its showroom, greatly improving the environment for staff and customers. Ecophon worked with interior design company Blueprint Interiors, who were initially proposing to use a fabric canopy for the ceiling, and recommended installing a free hanging system which could provide an improved acoustic environment.

Kay Heritage, regional sales manager for Ecophon, says: “Good acoustics can help to improve the sales environment – helping to reduce stress levels in staff and ensure customers feel comfortable too. It’s essential that customers are able to hear what’s being said in a car showroom and the Focus Wing ceiling has made a huge difference.

“In my initial discussions with Blueprint, I was concerned that while a fabric canopy might fit the bill from a design point of view, it would not offer any kind of acoustic benefit. I was keen to show that the Focus ceiling could meet both requirements – a class A sound absorber that also gives a clean contemporary and modern finish.”

The showroom ceiling has been such a success that it’s now also been installed in the auction’s canteen area. As an area that suffers from high levels of background noise, Ecophon’s acoustic ceiling will help absorb some of this sound and create a calmer and quieter environment in which staff can relax.
