Ecophon: Dining at Butlins sounds good

A striking sound solution from Saint-Gobain Ecophon has been incorporated in to the radical redesign of The Deck Restaurant at Butlins in Bognor Regis to ensure the new dining area looks good and sounds good too.

Interior fit-out specialists for dining and leisure projects, WPL Interiors, were responsible for the creation of a new premium dining restaurant at the Butlins Bognor Regis. The redesign joined two areas together to create one space for 500 people, inspired by the fashionable Westfield Shopping Centre in West London.

Kevin Nicks, Director at WPL Interiors, explains; “Butlins were keen to update the look of the restaurant and create a fresh and colourful design. We also wanted to ensure the space was somewhere that visiting families could relax during mealtimes, so getting the acoustic atmosphere right was key to this.

“We chose to use three different sizes of Ecophon’s free-hanging Solo circles and 1200mm by 300mm Solo baffles to help create an interesting and quirky ceiling that was integral to the look and feel of the new space. The increased sound absorption they provide also ensures that the restaurant has a quieter atmosphere when it’s full of diners, hopefully making their experience even more enjoyable without them even realising.”

Jennifer Judd, area sales manager at Saint-Gobain Ecophon, says; “Our acoustic ceiling solutions help to reduce the impact of unwanted noise which can be beneficial to most environments. In a restaurant situation, diners want a certain level of privacy and don’t want to be interrupted by noise from the next table so reduced sound reverberation can help to manage this.”
