Dublin Airport - Ecophon

The concourse in Dublin Airport which serves the brand new terminal 2 building, is the focus of heavy pedestrian traffic, and as a wide open space with a ceiling height of more than 5m, the potential for excessive noise is high.

Therefore, the designers of the building were keen to use a ceiling system that could not only offer high sound absorption but was also in keeping with the contemporary feel of the new terminal.

Alan Crampton, Ecophon’s Regional Manager for Ireland, explains: ‘The internal structure of the concourse area is made from reflective surfaces which are very reverberant. Some 180 rafts were installed by Platt and Reilly Drywall, using our Focus DS ceiling tiles and Edge 500 for the perimeter. The effect is not only striking but has also created a quieter environment for both employees working and pedestrians travelling through the airport.’
