New Brook Buildings, Central London by John Robertson Architects

[Drawings + project data] New Brook Buildings is the transformation of a grim post-war building into an elegant, vibrant and modern office development fit for the 21st century

The project, for Henderson Central London Office Fund, creates 8,600m² of Grade A office.

The building facade was remodelled with new cladding that replaces the brick spandrels, maximising natural light and giving views across the city. Projecting bays animate the tower facade.

The more efficient building envelope reduces CO2 emissions by approximately 150,000kg per year. The entrance was relocated to provide level access and an appropriate street presence for the completed building. Festus Moffat, director, John Robertson Architects

It would be helpful to see what the original facade detail and appearance was. As it is the building might as well be new, the interest lies in the re-organisation of the plan and facades.

  • I felt exactly the same as Mr Kellett looking at this article - what was the original building like? A very poor "arty" selection of photos that doesn't convey the story at all!
