Mixed use development, 1 & 2 Stephen Street, London

The architect’s view

This mixed-use development comprising offices and retail space fronts Tottenham Court Road. Phases 1 and 2 of the office extension and refurbishment, scheduled to complete at the end of the 2013, involve transforming the ground floor on Stephen Street to create a new facade, new office entrance approach and double-height office studios. Existing TV studios, dressing rooms and ancillary space in 1 Stephen Street will be converted to form five studio units, some with mezzanines. The first floor of 1 Stephen Street as well as the reception, ground floor and levels 1-4 of 2 Stephen Street will be refurbished to Category A standard. In phase 3, due to start in 2014, the retail units on Tottenham Court Road will be extended by 70 per cent with a new double-height
frontage for the colonnade, with converted basement car parking.
