Liverpool students’ winning stone bench design installed

A new stone bench - the winning design of the City of London Stone Bench Competition 2012 - has been unveiled in the Square Mile.

The competition aims to develop architectural design and stone masonry skills.

This year’s winning design is by Chris Dove and Craig Mitchell, who completed the design while studying together at Liverpool John Moores University, and comprises 10 pieces of Portland stone, which were crafted by six apprentice stonemasons from the Cathedral Works Organisation in Chichester.
