Driftwood table and chairs go public

Art project promoting environmental conservation is unveiled as Birtwistle exhibits his conference table and chair set

A conference table and 12 chairs, designed by Silas Birtwistle and made entirely from driftwood, have been unveiled to the public.

The wood was collected from Belize, Tanzania, Borneo and British Colombia and the pieces formed part of an art project to raise awareness of environmental
conservation. A Table From The Sea’s Edge was created during the International Year of Biodiversity in 2010, and used by participants at the UN summit on biodiversity in Japan.

It is now being exhibited at Google’s London offices.
