The innovative ‘street’ design incorporated as part of Redland Green School, Bristol provides a
roof-lit internal thoroughfare which required acoustic treatment to curb high reverberation levels.
Manufactured by CMS Acoustic Solutions, SuperPhon panels have high acoustic-absorption capabilities
combined with a woven textile fabric finish. Over 200 bespoke panels were installed onto the upper-half walls of the 100 x 5m street in a combination of red and white in adherence with the colour scheme.
SuperPhon Acoustic Wall Panels reduce noise by impeding sound transmission through an element of the structure and by absorbing sound at the surface. They are quick and easy to install and the fabric covering is simple to clean and maintain.
The panels used in the project are 25mm-thick in order to achieve the required level of sound control but SuperPhon also comes in 12 and 50mm thicknesses. The product is made to order on a siteby- site basis with a range of 40 standard colours and other finishes and fabrics available on request. This makes it ideal for retrospective projects such as Redland Green. The school required an acoustic solution which performed well while complementing the architectural concept as a decorative element.
