Southend on Sea Pier competition

Southend Council is holding an international landscape architecture competition to choose a design for the Pier Head

Southend Pier is an iconic structure that over the last 150 years has helped define Southend. In 2005, however, a fire destroyed the Pier Head.

Southend Council is holding an international landscape architecture competition to choose a design for the Pier Head that will reinvigorate and bring activity to it and the town, making it a source of pride to residents and attraction to tourists. The new Pier Head must be developed in a manner that contributes to the cultural offering within the town while also respecting its heritage.

The competition will be held in two stages with entrants being invited to submit expressions of interest at stage one. For full details download the brief available here.
