Snap happy

Young starchitects Patrick Lynch of Lynch Architects and Kevin Carmody of Carmody Groarke, plus Elias Redstone of the Architecture Foundation and AJ editor Kieran Long, were snapped by David Bailey last week for GQ Style magazine.

Of course, Astragal was asked to participate, but modestly declined, fearing he might steal the limelight from the young whippersnappers. Nonetheless, the legendary East End snapper was in fine fettle. 'I photographed Philip Johnson twice – 50 years apart – in that glasshouse [in New Canaan, Connecticut]. Lovely bloke, but was still telling the same old fucking jokes 50 years later,' Bailey revealed. He also told of his pleasure in taking pictures of a 'really good looking' Japanese architect, who none of the assembled could guess the name of.
