Small Projects Award exhibition arrives in Belfast

The AJ’s touring Small Projects Award exhibition has opened at PLACE, the Built Environment Centre, in Belfast

The AJ Small Projects Award exhibition, which features all 24 shortlisted projects, will be on display at the centre until 29 June.

‘The show has been generating great interest so far,’ said Project Manager Conor McCafferty. ‘Small projects are often residential and so can be a great way into architecture for a wider public.’

Laura Dewe Mathews’ £245,000 urban infill dwelling in London, named ‘Box House’ was the winner of this year’s award, with Kilburn Nightingale Architects’ £37,145 visitor centre in the Ruwenzori Mountains of Uganda winning the Sustainability Prize.

Although no Northern Irish projects made it onto this year’s shortlist, two entries: The Garage by John Maguire Architects and Dearg by linearchitecture, came close and were featured in the ‘best of the rest’.
