Room with a View by Mitchell Taylor Workshop

  • Comment

This shelter was designed and constructed in five days by a student group led by Piers Taylor and Charley Brentnall from a limited kit of parts comprising several recently felled trees which were milled on site into required sections

The project is a device through which to interpret the wider landscape, and acts to ‘make sense’ of the scale of the flat-bottomed valley in which it sits.

Critically, however, it allows the valley floor to connect with the concealed river that runs along its edge, and allows the occupant of this tea house/contemplation space a view of the river, over which one can sit with dangling feet, and a view of the sky.

Cost: £450
