Bryanstone Road, London by Knott Architects

Knott Architects’ brief was to enlarge a family space in a London terrace, without compromising the garden, and to connect the interior and exterior

Forming a dining alcove off the main kitchen space, a glazed slot both divides and joins the two spaces and provides a route to the garden.

The slot is roofed with a double-glazed flat panel and flanked by further panels. A strip of uninterrupted glazing links the existing space with the new area, where oversized frameless glass doors wrap up and over as roof glazing. A strip of cedar cladding also drapes up and over to engineering bricks, which terminate at the boundary line.
Cost: £127,000
