Sears Tower: One very tall storey

Last week saw the opening of  the ‘Ledge’ viewing platform at the 442m-high Sears Tower in Chicago, the tallest building in the USA.

Suspended from the 103rd of its 110 storeys, the inspiration for the glass balcony reportedly came from smears on the windows left by visitors’ foreheads. There may be three layers of 1.3cm-thick glass between viewers and oblivion, but these pictures still makes Astragal feel a bit giddy.
