Rory is an award winning journalist and critic. He is a frequent contributor to newspaper, radio and television features with an architectural focus and regularly speaks at a number of industry events.
Before entering the field of journalism, Rory studied architecture at the University of Strathclyde, worked in practice in Glasgow, Liege and Istanbul, and as a designer in the videogames industry.
Rory has been a RIBA Awards judge, has served on the jury of the British Construction Industry Awards since 2009, ran a first-year design studio for two years and is a guest critic at a number of UK and Irish universities.
Rory was shortlisted for IBP Architecture writer of the year three years in a row, winning in 2011 and 2013. In 2010, he also won IBP’s Feature writer of the year and in 2013 was shortlisted for PPA Writer of the year.
