Short description of the contract or purchase(s):
Improvements to the Edward Boyle Library to include a new build extension & 2 phases of refurbishment to form a state of the art information & learning centre. The library is at the heart of the campus with the extension constructed on stilts over a service road serving the university Union & existing library loading bay.

Total quantity or scope:
Extension to north end of the library of cica 2 700 m2 over 4 floors. A refurbishment of circa 11 350 m2 of the existing library in 2 phases, each over 3 floors. Work is anticipated to commence on site in 2010. A high level programme will be agreed subject to the appointment of the design team & procurement route. The project has an approved budget of £30 000 000. The new build will aspire to BREEAM excellent.
