Astragal remembers a few months back how a top eco-expert from the good, green German city of Freiburg stood aghast at the sight of Ian Simpson’s 47-storey heavily-glazed Beetham Tower. The traumatised Teuton muttered to himself something like ‘Himmel, there must be a bloody big plug somewhere to power that’.
