Odd balls: Astragal at Wimbledon

Keen observers claim to have noticed that the new roof at Wimbledon’s Centre Court is having an odd effect on the state of play

Gossipmongers reckon that once closed, the roof - designed by Populous - together with the air conditioned environment creates a ‘barmy’ microclimate which is apparently responsible for very slight changes in the textural hair and trajectory of the balls. One curious observer commented, ‘it’s just not cricket’. How true.
