[FIRST LOOK + ELEVATIONS + DATA] Zaha Hadid’s $40 million [£24 million] Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University has been unveiled
The museum, which will officially open on the 9 November, will serve as an educational resource for the university and a cultural hub for the state of Michigan.
The ‘dynamic’ stainless steel and glass structure is a ‘dramatic contrast’ to the surrounding traditional brick collegiate Gothic architecture.
The 4,200m² project contains 1,600m² of gallery space, including areas for special exhibitions, modern and contemporary art, new media, photography, and works on paper and a three-level museum that has expansive views and provides sites for large-scale installations.
The building also contains an education wing, works on paper study center, café, shop and outdoor sculpture garden and pedestrian plaza.
