Zaha designs pavilion for art entrepreneur Schachter - images

These are the first images of Zaha Hadid's new pavilion for US art wheeler-dealer Kenny Schachter.

The portable exhibition space-cum-showroom will be unveiled at the international Art Basel show in Miami Beach, Florida, which kicks off next month.

The sister event of the world-famous art jamboree in Switzerland, the Miami Beach show is expected to attract around 200 of the world's leading galleries to the city's Art Deco District.

Hadid, who has worked with Schachter on a number of projects, including a new gallery in Hoxton and an eco-friendly car, has come up with a prefabricated structure which is to be shipped from Austria in 12 parts.

Describing the brief, Schachter said: 'I conceived it like portable architecture, almost like a traditional British shed or a movable pool house.'

'Inside the bespoke structure, there are built-in shelves, pedestals and a bar area, flat screens, and various other designs of Hadid.'

It is understood the pavilion itself will be put up for sale 'as hybrid piece of design, art and shelter' once the show is over.
