Wind turbines to reappear on Palestra

The wind turbines on the rooftop of Will Alsop’s Palestra building in Southwark, south London, look set to make a return 12 months after they were removed due to technical problems.

Back in January 2007, the AJ revealed that the 14 Swift turbines had been recalled by manufacturer Renewable Devices because of ‘component failure’.

The rotors had only been working for six weeks before the London Climate Change Agency (LCCA) – part of the London Development Agency – agreed the turbines should be removed for testing after faults were found on identical devices elsewhere.
