Virgin approaches Featherstone for Heathrow rendezvous - images

  • Comment
Featherstone Associates has released these images of concept design proposals for a new £10 million building at London's Heathrow airport.

Virgin Atlantic Airways appointed the architect earlier this year to work up ideas for the building - an 'upper class' check-in terminal.

According to the architect, the new building would be accessed via a dramatic car ramp, and offer 'speed and efficiency to the passengers passing through its spectacular new domed entrance hall'.

Heathrow has hit the headlines a number of times in recent weeks. D5 Architects and world-famous balloonist Per Lindstrand's blow-up roof for the airport's bus and coach station was inflated this week ( D5 Inflates Vast Roof for Heathrow).

In addition, Frederick Gibberd's Terminal 2 building now faces demolition in a plan to transform the airport in time for the 2012 Olympics ( Frank Gibberd's Heathrow Terminal Faces Demolition).
