Urban Splash unveils shortlisted schemes for Manchester playground - images

Manchester-based developer Urban Splash has unveiled these three shortlisted schemes for a new playground in Altrincham's John Leigh Park.

The as yet unidentified shortlisted architects in the Manchester Children's Play Area competition were asked to provide an 'imaginative, accessible and exciting play area that complements the existing rural nature of John Leigh Park'.

The RIBA competition, which was held in conjunction with Urban Splash and the Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council, received 47 entries.

The shortlisted designs, which are on show at Urban Splash's Budenberg HAUS Projekte in Altrincham, will now face a public vote.

Urban Splash associate director Tom Fenton said: 'It is the stakeholders' intention that the design with the most votes will be built.'

The votes are to be counted this weekend with a winner to be announced within the next three weeks.
