University of Edinburgh hunts for architect

The University of Edinburgh is seeking a design team to overhaul its 10-storey Darwin Building

The 9,000m² building is the home of the university’s School of Biological Sciences and forms part of the King’s Buildings campus to the south of the city.

As well as the refurbishment of the main building, which will inlcude the removal of asbestos, the project will involve the demolition of the Darwin Library, and the construction of a new Bio-Hub building.

In 2009, RMJM drew up a masterplan for the ongoing development of the university.
