UK firms step closer to Norway concert hall win

Two UK-based practices have won an international design competition for a library and theatre/concert hall in the coastal city of Bodø, Norway.

Langdon Reis Zahn and DRDH shared equal first prize, along with Swedish practice General Architecture and Florian Hultsch of Germany.

The win – each practice will receive £25,000 – was for the first stage of the competition, intended to 'clarify the location, massing and articulation of the built forms, composition and urban design of the adjacent site areas and public spaces'.

Three of the four practices – DRDH, Langdon Reis Zahn, and General Architecture – have been invited to participate in the second round of the competition, to decide which firm will eventually design the £63 million project.
