The AJ lands publishing's 'Stirling Prize'

The AJ has scooped the most revered magazine-design award in Britain.

The architecture profession's leading weekly last night won the Best of the Best category at the Press Gazette's Magazine Design Awards.

In doing so, the relaunched magazine saw off competition from the likes of GQ, Icon, Loaded, Time, the Telegraph Magazineand the Observer Sport Monthly.

The AJ also won the Best Business Magazine category and the Best Relaunch, completing a hat-trick of awards.

Speaking at the event, Press Gazetteproprietor Piers Morgan, the former editor of the Daily Mirror, said: 'It's not the taking part in these awards that counts, it's the winning.

'I'm very impressed by the AJ, I think it looks amazing. Bloody hell, it is really really great.

'Now all you have to do is pay for a full-page advert in the Press Gazette to announce it,' he added.
