Sutherland Hussey wins St Andrews housing contest

Edinburgh practice sees off Reiach and Hall, cre8architecture and Nicoll Russell Studios in the competition to design a housing scheme in St Andrews

Sutherland Hussey Architects has beaten a clutch of Scottish practices to win the invited competition to design a new housing development in St Andrews, Fife.

The Edinburgh firm beat Reiach and Hall, Cre8 Architecture and Nicoll Russell Studios to land the project for Eastacre Investments.

Organised around private and public courtyards, the 1,800m² scheme features six townhouses, four maisonettes and four flats. The project in West Burn Lane is in the heart of the university town next to the School of Psychology and Reiach and Hall’s Bute Medical Building (AJ 01.07.10).

A planning application has been lodged with Fife Council. Completion is expected by August 2014.
