Starck raving mad in Moscow

According to the press puff – and it really is puff – the new Maison Baccarat in a historic building in Moscow is the ‘latest opus to emerge from the fruitful collaboration between the time-honored crystal manufacturer [Baccarat] and genius designer [Philippe Starck].'

As well as ‘an ogre mouth fireplace’ and a ‘tentacular lighting piece’ (who knows), Starck has created ‘genuine social space’ where ‘new-generation French chefs David Desseaux and David Hemmerlé offer a French menu inspired by Russian flavours’. Borscht and frogs' legs it is then.

‘Today’s opening ceremony’, gushes the Baccarat press release, ‘will gather around Philippe Starck the cream of Moscow's cultural, artistic and social community, impatient to discover this crystal setting, the city's latest social scene’.
