S&P's Corby pool to be built under Design and Build Contract

S&P Architects' £19.8 million Corby-East Midlands International Pool is to be realised with news that a contractor has been awarded the Design and Build contract for the scheme.

The practice has been novated across to contractor Wilmott Dixon for the Corby Borough Council scheme, which is due to open in 2009.

The 50m pool is double the size of the original scheme revealed by the AJ in November 2005 (S&P wins Corby pool competition).

The project, at Corby's Parkland Gateway site, is the first of two schemes currently under way that are intended to transform Corby town centre.

The second project, designed by Hawkins\Brown and known as the Corby Cube, is a civic hub which will include a new theatre, library and arts centre, and which is currently out to tender.
