Softroom wins place at university

Softroom has won the competition to design new student accommodation at Glyndŵr University in Wrexham

London-based architects Softroom has won the RIBA competition to design new student accommodation at Glyndŵr University in Wrexham.

The practice beat finalists Hamiltons Architects, Italians 1AX Architetti Association and A-Studio to mastermind an ‘aspirational’ development housing 500 graduates and undergraduates.

The site north of its Plas Coch campus on the outskirts of the Welsh town sits next to an existing student village.

It is hoped the flats will be complete by spring 2010.
